What ad creative costs in 2026: freelancers, design subscriptions, in-house and agencies

Published prices for the usual ways to get ads made, checked in October 2026: freelancers, design subscriptions, an in-house team and creative agencies, and when each makes sense.

Getting ads made can cost anything from $15 an hour to $30,000 a month. The right option depends less on the price tag than on how much new creative you need, and how often.

Below are the published prices for the four usual routes, checked on 19 October 2026, plus where our own subscription fits. Prices change, so check each provider’s page before you decide.

Freelancers

Upwork’s own cost guides put graphic designers at about $25 an hour on average, with a range of $15 to $150. For video editors, Upwork’s median rates are $10 an hour at entry level, $40 mid-tier and $100 senior.

Makes sense when you need a specific one-off job, like a logo, a single launch video or a set of product photos, and you have time to brief and review it.

Watch for: availability and deadlines vary person to person, most freelancers have one specialty, and you brief each new person from scratch. In 167 reviews and forum posts we read, late or missing work was one of the most common complaints about freelance help.

Design subscriptions

These charge a flat monthly fee for a queue of design requests. ManyPixels lists plans from $699 a month (one daily output, one project at a time) to $2,599 a month for two dedicated part-time designers, with next-day first drafts on its entry plans. Designjoy charges $4,995 a month for one request at a time, with delivery in 48 hours on average, and both let you cancel anytime.

Makes sense when you have a steady flow of general design work: social graphics, decks, landing pages, banners.

Watch for: check what’s included (video, motion and photography vary by plan and provider), whether “turnaround” means a first draft or a finished file, and how many requests run at once.

An in-house team

Hiring gives you the most control, at the highest fixed cost. US median annual pay, from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (May 2025), is $62,960 for graphic designers, $75,100 for film and video editors, and $44,660 for photographers. Together that’s $15,227 a month in pay alone, before benefits, payroll taxes, equipment and software.

Makes sense when creative is a full-time, every-day need across many channels and you can keep each person busy.

Creative agencies

Large creative agencies sell budgets or dedicated teams. Superside publishes its prices: from $15,000 a month on its Flex plan, or from $30,000 a month for a dedicated team, plus a $1,000 monthly software fee, on a 12-month term. It says a dedicated team is live in about three weeks.

Makes sense when you’re a larger brand that needs strategy, project management and production at scale, and can commit for a year.

Where Sokol Systems fits

We charge $2,995 a month, with no contract. You send requests, usually starting from your best-performing ads and posts, and we produce them one at a time, each delivered within 48 hours, Monday to Friday. The subscription covers new versions of your winning ads (hooks, angles, formats and every size), product shots, photography, UGC-style video, Reels and social posts.

We’re not the cheapest design subscription. We make the most sense if you run paid ads or post often, and want a steady supply of new versions of what’s already working rather than general design help. See the full pricing and comparison.
